P84®/Kevlar®/Lenzing FR® Features:
As many firefighters have already experienced, hoods made of P84 polyimide fiber have demonstrated their resistance to flame and heat and remain durable under the toughest conditions. The fabric’s “high moisture gain” means it picks up moisture off your skin more effectively. P84’s unique trilobal fiber structure allows air to circulate, and the Lenzing FR provides softness in the fiber matrix and high absorption characteristics. The addition of Kevlar in the blend minimizes shrinkage when exposed to intense heat or flame as well as enhancing durability. Other properties of P84/Kevlar/ Lenzing FR include:
- Inherently Flame Resistant
- Low thermal shrinkage
- Mid-range initial cost
- Excellent wear life
- Excellent shape retention
- Natural yellow color
- Heavy weight - 8 oz./sq. yd.
- Superb breathability, moisture absorbency and comfort
- Meets CAL-OSHA Requirements
Passes Fed. Test 191, Method 5903.2: CAL OSHA Sections 3406(d) - Complies with OSHA Rule 29 CFR Part 1910, 269
- Meets CE Requirements
- Meets or Exceeds Draft European Standard prEN 13911 (Classic, Ultimate and Elite Style hoods)
The Unique trilobal cross section offers up to 90% more surface area compared to conventional round fibers allowing air to better circulate enhancing both thermal protection as well as comfort.
